POSITION OVERVIEW: 

Reporting to the Manager of Internal Audit and Compliance, this role will be responsible for coordination and execution of the Internal Audit and Compliance (NI 52-109) program. The role will require excellent project management, time management, and communication skills to handle multiple audit projects on the go. The successful candidate will be collaborating with internal stakeholders and third-party audit consultants. The role is a great opportunity for someone who is a creative and an analytical thinker, can get their hands dirty, manage project timelines, and enjoys working both independently and as a team.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Internal Controls/Compliance (NI 52-109):

  • Support the execution of RioCan’s NI 52-109 compliance program. This includes testing, review of testing performed, dashboard reporting, among other items.
  • Spot process or controls breakdowns, non-compliance to policies, and process improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and/or improve policies and procedures related to compliance and controls.
  • Support the Manager and Director in managing day-to-day activities, and
  • Other duties as required.

Internal Audit:

  • Execute routine and projects related to the internal audit program.
  • Meet with business-units to understand changes to process, risks, and their operating environment.
  • Perform and execute internal audit testing activities.
  • Collaborate with process owners to develop viable and appropriate remediation action plans to address deficiencies.
  • Assist in the development of formal internal audit reports with practical and pragmatic solutions for Audit Committee and Management presentation.
  • Follow-up to ensure audit findings are actioned-up and resolved by business-unit leaders.
  • Other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • University or College Degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • Currently holds, working towards, or wishes to pursue a CPA designation.
  • Wishes to learn and enhance ones passion for the real estate industry.
  • Understanding of general accounting, account reconciliation, and financial processes.
  • Proficiency in MS Office including Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and project management skills.
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Enjoys working independently and collaborating as a team.
  • Can work with minimal supervision when working remotely.
