Summary

Position Overview:

The Systems Administrator role is responsible for maintenance, monitoring and support of Active Directory, Exchange, Unified Messaging, Virtualization, and Endpoint Management. The role is responsible for proactive technical troubleshooting and implementation hardware/software. The role acts as a backup for both the “Network Security and “Systems Engineer”.  

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and maintain day-to-day data centre operations including virtual infrastructure, SharePoint 2010/2016, and other web-based environments.
  • Able to assist in Systems, Network & Security matters as per the instructions.
  • Responsible for the daily backup, troubleshooting and restore operations.
  • Assist in the Incident Response and Disaster Recovery Plan test and restore exercise.
  • Antivirus platform monitoring, troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Responsible for Server/Desktop, OS, and application patch management monitoring/reporting.
  • Provide third-level Help Desk Ticket resolution, including supporting the business 7x24x365 and on-call support as needed.
  • Follow the contingency and/or continuity procedures, compliant with the security policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Interacts with internal clients on all levels to resolve IT issues in a timely and efficient manner
  • Builds and maintains ongoing vendor relationships
  • Research and evaluate new technologies for the department.  
  • Maintain Enterprise Standards within the facility to the specifications of the corporate standards, and regulatory compliance governing servers, desktops, network/security devices, and applications.
  • Ability to lift hardware devices, i.e., servers, routers, and switches.

Qualification Requirements:

  • 6+ years experience as a Systems/Support Administrator in a large publicly traded organization.
  • University Degree or 3- or 4-year College Diploma in a relevant IT discipline
  • Microsoft certification (MCSE), (MCP)
  • VMware Certification (VCP)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • An in-depth understanding of all areas of IT and how the IT department impacts the organization.
  • Maintenance and troubleshooting of Active Directory, Security, Exchange, Unified Communication, Virtualization, Web Interfaces and Mobile Device Management platforms.
  • Maintenance and troubleshooting of Data Centre hardware, Networks & Cloud Infrastructures.
  • Organizational, Coaching and Mentoring skills.
  • Self-starting independent thinker that possesses initiative, creativity, and good organizational, analytical, problem-solving skills.
  • Good understanding of ITIL processes, technical documentation, and project management skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment

  • Multi tasking and able to affectively prioritize the tasks

Technology Skills:

  • Expert level of Active Directory 2016 domain, LDAP, DNS and DHCP.
  • Expert level of Azure Endpoint Manager, and aptitude to create policies to manage and deploy applications and services, such as, conditional access, patch management and bitlocker.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Exchange 2013/2016, Unified Communication and VoIP.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Server/Desktop Virtualization technologies, such as VMware vSphere
  • Intermediate level LAN/WAN monitoring, Security technologies and troubleshooting skills.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Mobile Device Management, JAMF, Intunes platform
  • Knowledge of ServiceNow
  • Knowledge of SANs and Blade Server hardware platform.
  • Knowledge of Systems management and monitoring tools, i.e., SCCM and SCOM.
  • Knowledge of the System Centre Configuration Managers (SCCM) and System Centre Operations Managers (SCOM) and network monitoring technologies.

Assets:

  • Azure Certification
  • ITIL V3 Foundation and Project Management training and/or certification

Location:

  • Frequent travel required between two Toronto offices. Occasional travel to the other GTA offices.
