Position Overview:

Reporting to the Director, Development, the prospective candidate has between 1-3 years of planning experience with large scale, multi-dimensional development projects. The candidate is responsible for obtaining municipal and provincial approvals required to construct space as per requirements of executed leases and locate new sites for future development.


  • Communicate with municipalities and other provincial / regional approval authorities regarding the status of files.
  • Review legal documents such as leases, zoning by-laws and municipal agreements to ensure compliance with company terms.
  • Review operating and easement agreements to ensure compliance with tenant requirements.
  • Update tenants with the status of applications concerning their space.
  • Assist in coordination of tenant permit submissions to ensure compliance with lease and municipal approvals.
  • Research possible site locations for future planning and development and assist in the acquisition process.
  • Prepare marketing presentations for development properties.
  • Meet weekly with internal departments to discuss development strategy.
  • Review, comment on and file correspondence received regarding development files.
  • Review, comment on drawings related to development files.
  • Communicate with constants regarding status of work and determine strategy for projects.
  • Review and consolidate consultant invoices.
  • Prepare cheque requisitions as required for development approval application fees.
  • Other duties / projects as required.

Qualification Requirements:

  • University Degree in Urban Planning
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
